Research Study
Nutrition survey of individuals with rhizomelic chondrodysplasia punctata (RCDP) and other disorders of
plasmalogen biosynthesis (NA_00033689)
We are doing a research study examining the nutritional and feeding needs of individuals with RCDP and other disorders of plasmalogens. The study is being performed at the Kennedy Krieger Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Who can participate:
Individuals with RCDP and other disorders from newborns up to age of 30.
Since we will need the individuals to complete a questionnaire, subjects or their families will have to read and speak English.
What is required:
If you agree to participate, we will ask you to do the following things:
-- Fill out a questionnaire which will take about 30-60 minutes.
--Do a three day diet record every 3 months for one year.
--You will have the option to have your blood drawn at a local facility and sent to the Kennedy Krieger for essential fatty acid analysis. Having blood taken is not a requirement of the study.
There is no travel and no visits.
You will not be paid for your participation.
